It seems to work for me but if you turn your PS3 vertically, it'll work , but it's just not practical to do, and could just be luck.
Sony NEED to look at this issue and sort it please.

The game is playable!! Go to the PS3 options menu > Game Settings > PS2 Upscaler and select NONE. Then try to run the game. If/When it freezes after the first movie, press the PS button and restart the game. Then it should work. I have just tested this myself.
